Look up!

In honor of the 250th anniversary of the birth of the nation, Cape Coral will celebrate in a big way on Saturday, the 4th of July, with the annual Red, White, and Boom event.

Deputy Parks and Recreation Director Mike Massogli explains, "We're  putting on a bigger fireworks show featuring an increased number of aerial shells. We’re also excited to welcome country music star Chris Lane as this year’s headliner, who will deliver an unforgettable performance at the celebration.”

Red, White, and Boom is a wonderful opportunity for the Cape Coral community to come together and celebrate Independence Day. “This family-friendly event offers something for all ages, bringing residents and visitors together for an evening of entertainment, patriotism, and community spirit,” adds Mike Massogli.

The event takes place from 5 pm to 10 pm on Cape Coral Parkway at the foot of the Cape Coral Bridge. No pets, no fireworks, and no outside alcohol will be allowed, and the event takes place rain or shine.

Cool down!

With the hot days of summer, keeping cool is key. July is a great time to cool down from the summer heat with splash pads and swimming pools. There’s a great new Splashpad in Cape Coral at Jaycee Park. This 5,000-square-foot splash pad is open during park hours from sunrise to 9 pm.  Splashpads offer the little ones the opportunity to enjoy interactive water play all in a zero-depth environment for plenty of cool, blasting fun. Also, the splash pad at Lakes Park in Fort Myers is set to reopen this summer.

Don’t forget that Sun Splash Family Water Park offers a ton of water fun from a quarter-mile lazy river to a massive wave pool to thrilling water slides and more!

In addition, Lee County Parks & Recreation offers various public swimming pools that are great for the whole family. The pools include:

  • Lehigh Acres Community Pool, 1400 W. 5th Street, 239-369-8277
  • North Fort Myers Community Pool: 5170 Orange Grove Blvd, North Fort Myers, 239-652-4520
