There are many books, magazines, newspapers, and movies at the Cape Coral – Lee County Public Library, but there are also fun events. Two this month include the magic of John Russell and a chance to meet local author, Carol Freeman.

“Audience members of all ages will be mesmerized as magician John Russell brings his innovative twist to classic magic,” says Patricia Spencer, Communication, Content and Web Manager.

Seasonal favorite, high-energy and humorous, Russell has been entertaining Lee County audiences for years. His shows delight audiences with a mix of tradition and innovation. These one-hour interactive shows are hilarious and spellbinding. Russell will perform at the Cape Coral-Lee County Public Library on Saturday, March 23 from 2 pm-3 pm. Online registration starts February 23.  Russell will also be at the South County Regional Library at 21100 Three Oaks Parkway, Estero, on Saturday, March 16 from 2 pm–3 pm.

Register for the South County Regional Library show online until March 16. This magic program is sponsored by The Friends of the Cape Coral Regional Library, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the resources and services at the library. In March, one can get a chance to meet local author Carol Freeman.

“Come step onto the pickleball court with amateur sleuths, Ellen and Charlie Green, in her newest book, 'The Cape Coral Pickleball Murders,’ where the game takes a deadly turn!” says Spencer.

Some of the settings take place in the author’s favorite local haunts, such as local restaurants and places of interest. Freeman will be at the Cape Coral- Lee County Public Library Thursday, March 21, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. She will discuss the inspiration behind her stories and share some of her favorite moments researching and writing her entertaining Cape Coral Murder Series of six books. Her husband, Bill, and partner in crime will be joining in the event.  Freeman will also be at the Downtown Farmers’ Market on Saturdays from February 17-March 23. Her books are available in paperback and e-book format and through www.amazon.com.

Other March events at the Cape Coral–Lee County Public Library include book discussion groups, crafts, story times, and more.
