The city of Fort Myers announced its government offices to be closed Friday September 15, 2017, with the exception of the Building Division of the Community Development Department.

"Essential personnel including hurricane recovery teams will also be deployed," the statement read. All other city offices and customer facilities are closed.

The Building Division remains open with limited staffing to process permits if the demand warrants. Irma-related permits are taking priority, and the city plans to waive permit fees to repair damages related to the hurricane.

For those residents that have lost their drivers' license in Hurricane Irma, Florida Highway Patrol Florida Licensing On Wheels (FLOW) Mobiles have arrived in Southwest Florida to help.

FLOW is available at the following Lee County locations:
  • North Fort Myers Community Park, 2000 North Recreation Park Way
  • Lehigh Acres Community Park North, 1400 West Fifth St.
  • Three Oaks Community Park, 18251 Three Oaks Parkway

"Residents with questions about City services can reach the City call center at 239-321-8100. Residents are asked to reserve use of 9-1-1 for life safety emergencies only.  General information about the Hurricane emergency, shelters, and recovery efforts can call the 2-1-1 Help Line by dialing 2-1-1 or 239-433-3900.  The 2-1-1 Help Line is operational from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m."

Florida State Parks Reopening

The Department of Environmental Protection’s Florida Park Service announced yesterday that 46 state parks have reopened following Hurricane Irma. Due to weather conditions and to ensure visitor safety, 121 state parks remain closed.

Lee County's state parks are still closed until further notice. They include:
  • Cayo Costa State Park
  • Estero Bay Preserve State Park
  • Gasparilla Island State Park
  • Koreshan State Historic Site
  • Lovers Key State Park
  • Mound Key Archaeological State Park

General Information on Hurricane Relief

Emergency shelters, food, recovery efforts, and wellness checks information can be obtained by calling the 2-1-1 Help Line. Dial 2-1-1 or 239-433-3900.

United Way 2-1-1 staff will assist by providing information from the Lee County Operations Center.  The 2-1-1 Help Line is operational from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Fort Myers residents are reminded that the water supply in Fort Myers is safe to drink. The City did not have a boil notice at any time during the Hurricane Irma emergency. Additionally, the Lee County boil notice has been lifted for Fort Myers residents that utilize County water.
